Account & Data Deletion
You can delete your BLUCLR account and ask us to remove your personal information. Here is exactly how, and what happens next.
This page explains how to delete your BLUCLR account, how to request deletion of your personal information, and what happens after a request is made. It supports our Privacy Policy.
You can delete your account from inside the BLUCLR app, or by emailing info@bluclr.in from an address or with the phone number registered to your account. We will verify the request, action it, and confirm when it is done.
Option 1: delete your account in the app
This is the quickest route.
- Open the BLUCLR app and make sure you are signed in.
- Open the Profile menu.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Account.
- Choose Delete Account.
- Confirm the request. You may be asked to re-verify your phone number by one-time password (OTP) so that we know it is you.
Once confirmed, your profile stops being discoverable by other users and your information is deleted in accordance with the timeline below.
Option 2: request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app, or you prefer to write to us, send an email to info@bluclr.in with the subject line “Account deletion request”, including:
- the mobile phone number registered to your BLUCLR account;
- the name on the account;
- whether you are a worker or an employer;
- whether you want the whole account deleted, or only certain information removed (see below).
Please send the request from an email address associated with your account where possible. If you do not have one, we will verify your request another way — usually by sending a one-time password to your registered phone number.
You can also call us on the number listed on our Contact Us page and ask for the request to be recorded.
Option 3: remove profile information without deleting your account
You may not want to delete everything. You can also:
- Edit your profile in the app to change or remove your skills, experience, location, work preferences or profile photo at any time.
- Hide your profile from search results, where that option is available in your version of the app, under Settings → Profile visibility.
- Ask us to remove specific information by writing to info@bluclr.in and telling us exactly what you would like removed.
- Turn off notifications or location access in your device settings.
Removing information may limit how well the Platform works for you — for example, employers may not be able to find you if your skills are removed.
How we verify a deletion request
Deletion is permanent, so we take care to confirm that a request genuinely comes from the account holder. We may:
- send a one-time password to the registered phone number and ask you to confirm it;
- ask you to confirm details already on the account;
- correspond with the email address associated with the account.
We will not ask you for your password (BLUCLR accounts use OTP sign-in, not passwords), for payment details, or for identity documents in order to process a routine deletion request.
If we cannot verify a request, we will tell you and explain what else we need. We may decline a request we cannot verify, in order to protect the account holder.
What happens when your account is deleted
Immediately or shortly after your request is actioned:
- your profile stops being visible or discoverable to other users;
- you are signed out and can no longer access the account;
- you stop receiving notifications and service messages.
Within 30 days:
- your account and profile information — name, phone number, skills, experience, location, work preferences, employer requirements and profile photo — are deleted from our active systems, or irreversibly de-identified;
- related records held for the operation of the Platform are deleted or de-identified in the same way.
Backups: copies may persist in secure backups for a limited period before being overwritten in the normal backup cycle, which completes within 90 days.
What may be retained, and why
Some limited information may be kept even after deletion, where the law allows or requires it:
- Records we must keep by law. For example, transaction, tax or accounting records where a payment was made, for the statutory retention period.
- Records needed for a legal claim or investigation. Where there is an ongoing dispute, a report of misuse, or a request from a competent authority, for as long as necessary.
- Security and abuse-prevention records. A minimal record may be retained where necessary to prevent a banned user from re-registering, or to protect other users.
- Aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer be linked to you, which may be retained for statistical and product purposes.
- Information already shared with another user. For example your phone number, if you gave it to an employer or worker directly, or messages already received by them. We cannot recall information that has left our systems.
How long it takes
- Acknowledgement: we aim to acknowledge a written deletion request within 3 working days.
- In-app deletion: takes effect immediately on confirmation.
- Completion of deletion: within 30 days of a verified request.
- Confirmation: we will confirm once the deletion has been completed.
If a request takes longer than expected — for example because verification is pending — we will tell you why.
Can deletion be undone?
No. Account deletion is permanent. Your profile, skills, experience and other details cannot be restored once deleted.
You are welcome to register again in future, but you would need to create a new profile from the beginning. If you are unsure, consider editing or hiding your profile instead of deleting it.
Other data rights
As well as deletion, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, to correct it, to withdraw consent, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive a copy of certain information. These rights, and how to exercise them, are described in our Privacy Policy.
