Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information BLUCLR collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
BLUCLR (“BLUCLR”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates a digital platform that connects employers with blue-collar and skilled workers. This Privacy Policy applies to the BLUCLR mobile application, our website and any related services (together, the “Platform”).
We want you to understand what happens to your information when you use BLUCLR. If anything here is unclear, please contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Platform.
A. What we collect, and why
Who we are and who this policy covers
BLUCLR is the platform operated by BluClr, a business based in India. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, BluClr is the entity responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers two broad groups of users:
- Workers. Individuals who create a profile to be discoverable for skilled work.
- Employers. Individuals and organisations that use the Platform to find and contact workers.
It also covers visitors to our website who do not hold an account.
Information we collect
We collect the information described below. Where information is optional, you can choose not to provide it, though some features may not work fully without it.
Information you give us
- Phone number. Your mobile number is the primary identifier for a BLUCLR account. We use it to create your account, to sign you in and to enable contact between users where the Platform provides for it.
- OTP authentication data. To confirm that a phone number belongs to you, we send a one-time password (OTP) by SMS and record the fact and outcome of that verification (for example, the time of the request and whether verification succeeded). We do not retain the OTP code itself once verification is complete or the code has expired.
- Name. The name you enter for your profile or account.
- Worker profile information. For worker accounts: your trade or worker category, a description of your work, and any other profile details you choose to add, including a profile photo if you upload one.
- Skills. The skills you list, and any specialisations you add.
- Experience. Your years of experience, past or current type of work, and similar details you provide.
- Location and work preferences. Your city, area or preferred work location, willingness to travel, availability, and similar preferences you enter.
- Employer requirements. For employer accounts: the worker categories or skills you are looking for, the location of the work, and details of the requirement you enter on the Platform, together with your business or organisation name where you provide it.
- Communications with us. The content of enquiries, support requests, reports of misuse and feedback you send, including those you send to us by email or by telephone.
Information we collect automatically
- Device information. Device model, operating system and version, application version, device language, and a device or installation identifier used to keep the app working correctly across sessions.
- Log and IP information. Internet protocol (IP) address, access times, pages or screens viewed, actions taken in the app, referring pages on our website, and error or crash information.
- Approximate or precise location. Where the Platform offers location-based features and you grant permission, we may collect device location so that results can be shown for your area. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings; the app will continue to work using the location you enter manually.
- Cookies and similar technologies on our website. See our Cookie Policy.
Information we do not ask for
We do not ask users to provide payment card details, bank account details or government identification documents in order to create a basic account. Please do not send sensitive documents to us or to other users unless it is genuinely necessary and you are satisfied it is appropriate to do so. BLUCLR does not ask workers to pay anyone in order to get work.
If we later introduce document verification, identity checks or in-app payments, this section will be updated to describe exactly what is collected and why.
How we use your information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account, including verifying your phone number by OTP and signing you in.
- To operate the Platform. Showing worker profiles to employers searching for relevant skills, showing relevant opportunities to workers, and enabling the two sides to connect.
- To make search and matching useful, for example by using the skills, experience and location details you provide to present relevant results.
- To enable communication between users where the Platform provides for it.
- To provide customer support and respond to your enquiries, requests and reports.
- To send service communications, such as OTP messages, notifications relating to your account, and important changes to our terms or policies.
- To keep the Platform safe. Detecting, investigating and preventing fraud, spam, impersonation, abuse and other misuse, and enforcing our Terms & Conditions.
- To improve the Platform. Understanding which features are used and where users encounter problems, and diagnosing technical issues, using aggregated or de-identified information wherever practical.
- To comply with law and to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
Where we send you promotional or marketing messages, we will do so in accordance with applicable law and you will be able to opt out. Service messages such as OTPs and account notices are necessary for the Platform to function.
Why we are permitted to use your information
Depending on the law that applies to you, we rely on one or more of the following grounds:
- Your consent. For example, when you create a profile and choose what to publish on it, or when you allow the app to access your device location.
- Performance of our agreement with you. To provide the Platform you have signed up for, under our Terms & Conditions and User Agreement.
- Our legitimate interests. Keeping the Platform secure, preventing misuse, and improving our services, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation. Where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
You may withdraw consent at any time by changing your settings, editing or removing profile information, or deleting your account (see Account & Data Deletion). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.
B. Who can see your information
What other users can see
BLUCLR works by making relevant information visible to the other side of a potential engagement. It is important to understand what this means in practice.
- Worker profiles are intended to be discoverable by employers using the Platform. Information you add to your profile — such as your name, trade, skills, experience, work preferences and general location — may be shown to employers searching for those skills.
- Employer requirements may be shown to workers whose skills are relevant to them, together with the organisation or contact name you provide.
- Contact details may be made available to the other party where the Platform provides for direct contact, or where you choose to share them.
Please only add information to your profile that you are comfortable making visible to other users of the Platform. You can edit or remove profile information at any time from within the app.
Information you share directly with another user — for example in a conversation, or over a phone call arranged through the Platform — is outside our control once shared. Please use your judgement.
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below.
- With other users of the Platform, as described in the section above, so that employers and workers can find and contact each other.
- With service providers who work on our behalf, under contract and only for the purposes we specify. These typically include:
- cloud hosting, database and storage providers;
- SMS providers who deliver one-time passwords;
- push notification and messaging providers;
- analytics and crash-reporting providers;
- customer support tools;
- payment processors, if and when paid features are introduced.
- For legal reasons. Where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, or is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of BLUCLR, our users or the public.
- In connection with a business transaction. If BLUCLR is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will take reasonable steps to ensure it remains subject to protections consistent with this policy, and will notify users where required by law.
- With your consent or at your direction, for any other purpose you agree to.
Some of our service providers may process information outside the country in which you are located. Where that happens, we take steps required by applicable law to ensure the information continues to be protected appropriately.
Communication between users
The purpose of BLUCLR is to make direct contact possible between an employer and a worker. Once contact is made:
- the conversation and any arrangement that follows are between those two parties;
- BLUCLR is not a party to the arrangement, does not supervise it, and does not guarantee any outcome;
- information you choose to share directly with the other party is shared on your own judgement.
Where communication happens through features provided within the Platform, we may store the content and metadata of those communications so that the feature works, so that we can provide support, and so that we can investigate reports of misuse. We do not use the content of user-to-user communications for advertising.
If another user behaves inappropriately, asks you for money in exchange for work, or misrepresents themselves, please report it to us at info@bluclr.in.
Third-party service providers and links
We rely on third-party providers to deliver parts of the Platform, as listed above. These providers are given access only to the information they need to perform their function, and are required to protect it.
The Platform and our website may contain links to third-party sites or services — for example, an app store listing. Those services are operated by others and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices, and we encourage you to read their policies before providing information to them.
C. Security, retention and deletion
Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit, access controls, restricted administrative access, and logging and monitoring of our systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You also have a part to play: keep control of the phone number and device linked to your account, do not share OTP codes with anyone, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
If a security incident affecting your personal information occurs, we will act in accordance with applicable law, including notifying the relevant authority and affected users where required.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, and after that only where we are required or permitted to keep it.
- Account and profile information is retained while your account is active.
- After account deletion, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep certain records for legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution purposes.
- Log and technical information is retained for up to 12 months for security and diagnostic purposes.
- Records we are required by law to keep are retained for the period the law requires.
Information already shared directly with another user by you cannot be recalled by us.
Account deletion and data deletion requests
You can ask us to delete your BLUCLR account and the personal information associated with it.
- In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- By email: write to info@bluclr.in from the email address associated with your account, or include the phone number registered with your account so that we can verify the request.
- Via our website: see the dedicated Account & Data Deletion page.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a deletion request, to protect your account from unauthorised deletion. We will confirm once the request has been actioned.
Deleting your account removes your profile from being discoverable by other users. Some information may be retained as described in the retention section above.
D. Your rights
Your rights and choices
Subject to the law that applies to you, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete — most profile details can be edited directly in the app;
- Delete your account and personal information;
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it, including device permissions such as location;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Portability. Receive a copy of certain information in a usable format;
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, where the applicable law provides for this;
- Complain to the relevant supervisory or data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@bluclr.in. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. We may ask you for information to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Grievance contact: the Grievance Officer, info@bluclr.in.
Search results and automated processing
The Platform orders and filters search results using the information users provide — for example the skill category, experience and location on a worker profile compared with what an employer is looking for. This is intended to make results relevant.
BLUCLR does not make automated decisions that have legal effects on you, and does not decide who is hired. Hiring decisions are made by employers, and decisions about which work to accept are made by workers.
Children's privacy
BLUCLR is not intended for children. The Platform may only be used by persons who are at least 18 years old and legally competent to enter into a contract, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact info@bluclr.in and we will take steps to delete the information and close any associated account.
E. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies: what they are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies allow a site to recognise your device, remember your preferences and understand how the site is being used. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and software development kits (SDKs) in mobile apps, which serve comparable purposes.
Cookies may be session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them. They may be set by us (first-party) or by a service we use (third-party).
How we use cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
Strictly necessary
These are required for the website to function — for example to route requests correctly, maintain security, remember choices you make within a session and protect against abuse. They cannot be switched off through our website.
Preference
These remember settings such as your language or region so that the site behaves consistently on your next visit.
Analytics and performance
These help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed, how people move through the site, and where errors occur — so that we can improve it. We use a third-party analytics service for this purpose, and the provider in use is named in the cookie list below. Wherever practical, analytics information is aggregated or de-identified.
Marketing
BluClr does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name the providers, describe the purpose and explain how to opt out. Where the law requires it, consent will be obtained before such cookies are set.
Cookies used on this website
The BluClr website is a static site and does not set cookies of its own for advertising or profiling. The cookies that may be set fall into three groups:
- Strictly necessary. Set by our hosting provider to route requests, balance load and protect the site against abuse. These are session cookies and expire when you close your browser.
- Preference. Set by us to remember choices such as language or region, so that the site behaves consistently on a later visit.
- Analytics. Set by our analytics provider to measure how the site is used, in aggregate. These are typically retained for up to 24 months.
The exact cookie names, providers and durations in force are determined by the hosting and analytics configuration in use, and are published in the cookie settings available from this website.
This website loads a web font from a third-party font service, which means your browser makes a request to that service when a page loads. No cookie is set by us for that purpose. If you would prefer no third-party requests at all, the fonts can be self-hosted — see the developer notes supplied with the site.
Technologies used in the mobile app
The BLUCLR app does not use browser cookies, but it does use comparable device technologies, including:
- Local storage to keep you signed in and to store your settings on the device;
- Device and installation identifiers to operate the app reliably and to associate the app installation with your account;
- Push notification tokens, where you have allowed notifications;
- Crash and diagnostic tools that help us identify and fix errors.
You can manage app permissions — including notifications and location — in your device settings at any time.
How to control cookies
You have several options:
- Browser settings. All major browsers let you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block some or all cookies. Look under Settings → Privacy. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
- Consent banner. Where a cookie consent banner is shown, your choices can be changed at any time through the banner or a “Cookie settings” link.
- Analytics opt-out. Where our analytics provider offers an opt-out mechanism or browser add-on, a link to it is provided in the cookie settings.
- Device settings. On mobile devices, you can reset or limit advertising identifiers and manage app permissions in your device settings.
F. Changes and contact
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add features or when law or practice changes. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
If the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice — such as an in-app notice or a message to the contact details associated with your account — before the changes take effect, where required or appropriate. Continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
